About AC by Marriott

AC Hotel Ciudad de Toledo, Spain is a part of AC Hotels by Marriott hotel chain. AC Hotels by Marriott owns and operates a chain of hotels in Austria, Brazil, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and North America. In US they target “Generation Y” consumers seeking a hotel experience with a “design-led sensibility”. However, in Europe, AC Hotels by Marriott can be classic and modern, since chain owns variety of properties from before Marriott acquisition in 2011.
AC Hotel Ciudad de Toledo, Spain happens to be in a Spanish country villa style, Los Cigarrales (Valle de Toledo) , similar to what you would see in Tuscany, or Southern coast of France.

Booking

This property is rated category 3 by Marriott rewards program, which means I went to Marriott.com and used 15,000 Marriott rewards points for 1 night stay. Received immediate confirmation and was set. AC Hotel Ciudad de Toledo, Spain regular rate is a huge bargain. You can easily book it for under 100 euros/night. Even Superior room with Terrace, 1 King and views of Toledo (which I was upgraded to upon arrival, as a Marriott Platinum Rewards Member) goes for less than 150 Euros. But, my goal on this trip was to pay nothing for hotels and flights, and I had a lot of build up points, so I used my Marriott Rewards.

Location

AC Hotel Ciudad de Toledo, Spain, location

AC Hotel Ciudad de Toledo, Spain is located on hills opposing Old Town Toledo, 5-10 minutes walk up the hill from the Roman bridge. It’s location affords amazing views of the Toledo during a day and night, as well as makes it super easy to arrive by car. Do keep in mind, that most hotels located in the heart of old medieval European cities have difficult access to any motor vehicles, and local driving restrictions apply. Here that problem doesn’t exist, and there is plenty of free parking.

Arrival

Google Maps did a great job taking us from Salamanca, Spain, straight to the hotel parking lot. This is not a luxury chain hotel, so there is no dedicated bellman to help you with the luggage. Super friendly receptionist offered her help, but I couldn’t accept it. There was a male manager, that upon our departure offered to help, so if you need assistance, it won’t be a problem.

Check-in

Check-in was super easy, and pleasant. I was offered choices of Platinum Rewards Member arrival gift and chose free breakfast for two. We were automatically upgraded to best available room, which was Superior room with Terrace, 1 King and AMAZING views of Toledo.

Room, Terrace and Views

King and views of Toledo

terrace

Room was spacious, clean, comfortable, simple in design, but had all the necessary amenities for travel and business. King bed was comfy, and there was a complimentary coffee maker and fridge to use. (Small store lies less than 5 minutes walk, and you can by cheese, snacks and wine or water). Terrace was what made this room amazing. It was huge, almost the size of the room, with panoramic views of Toledo and river below, as well as neighboring villas.

Dining

Dining choices are limited. There is a nice buffet breakfast, and restaurant/lounge serves lunch and dinner. Small bar has all the basics when you in need, however, it is Spain and wine is cheap, so pick up a bottle, sit down on a terrace and enjoy the views. I did the same with breakfast, and ate it outside on the terrace.
About 0.5 miles is a restaurant Restaurante Panorámico Cigarral Monte Re, which offers great Spanish food with a view.

Fitness room and Amenities

-free high speed wifi throughout hotel
-free parking
-meeting space
-fitness room offering Cardiovascular Equipment and Free weights

Bottom Line:
Pros: Location, View, Price, Free parking, great breakfast, good business center support, great Marriott Rewards status recondition. Cons: limited dining and bar options. I Rate it 4.5/5 for great value and views.

Toledo morning

So, when visiting the area, consider AC Hotel Ciudad de Toledo for its incredible value and amazing views of the Medieval Old Town Toledo. Open the bottle of Rioja and enjoy the sunset, and if you up to it, sunrise as well.
